Former African Transformation Movement leader Vuyo Zungula says the party’s move to redeploy him as Parliamentary leader was a well-thought-out move.

He was replaced three weeks ago by the chief apostle and spiritual leader of the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ, Professor Caesar Nongqunga.

Zungula says being the ATM Parliamentary leader will allow him ample time to focus on matters at hand, and not having to worry about matters of growing the party outside of Parliament.

Zungula has also joined the chorus of those opposing the planned National Dialogue as another talk shop and a waste of money.

This follows hot on the heels of the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) decision to withdraw from the meeting of political parties, civil society organisations, and ordinary people backed by former President Thabo Mbeki to discuss the kind of South Africa they want.

He says what difference will the dialogue bring if the government fails to act on the outcomes of the number of summits, conventions and imbizos it held regularly.

“It’s a waste of time and money and at the same time, it shows how much this Government of National Unity (GNU) undermines poor people because currently we have doctors who are working triple shifts because there is no money in clinics and hospitals to employ doctors.

“We have problems with our children who are dying after eating fake foods from some establishments, yet environmental health practitioners are not employed. There is no need for a National Dialogue because the President has been having imbizos; the inputs from the imbizos must be sufficient.  The President just wants to be seen to be doing something, that is why he is going to have task teams for this commission,” adds Zungula.
