The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli has lamented the Plateau State Government’s failure to send a condolence delegation to Zaria after the killing of wedding-bound travllers from the Bassawa community in a recent attack in the Mangu Local Government area of the state.
Receiving a condolence visit from the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, at his palace in Zaria, the emir said, “As at the time of your visit, no official delegation from the Plateau Government has come to Zaria to condole or assess the situation with the victims’ family.”
On June 20, at least 12 people were killed in the attack, which included the father and brother of the groom, in addition to eleven others who were injured and treated in Kaduna.
Bamalli expressed gratitude for the visit of Dalung and challenged the Plateau State Government to act quickly to bring the victims to justice.
The visit also discussed how to strengthen peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and mutual understanding between Kaduna and Plateau States.
Dalung described the killings as “devastating and shameful” he then condemned it, and sent his condolences to the deceased families.
Also speaking, Pastor Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, condemned the killings as “unprovoked and senseless,” noting that the victims were innocent civilians on their way to a joyous occasion.
