The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed the arrest of crime intelligence head Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo at the O.R. Tambo International airport.

The NPA’s Henry Mamothame confirmed the arrests to SABC News.

He says Khumalo and other senior managers within the South African Police Service (SAPS) are expected to appear at the Pretoria central magistrate court on Friday.

However, he could not give more details about the possible charges the suspects will face and the circumstances relating to their arrests.

But reports suggest this could be in connection with the alleged unlawful appointments.
