US President Donald Trump has claimed that he prevented the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the recent Israel-Iran conflict.

Trump stated that he saved Khamenei from a very “ugly and ignominious death.”

According to the US President, Iran is a “blown up” country with a decimated military, asserting that the nation has no future.

This comes even as the US President hinted at a broader plan to ease sanctions and facilitate Iran’s recovery.

However, he said the Iranian leadership responded with “anger, hatred, and disgust,” prompting him to halt all efforts towards sanctions relief.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump criticised Khamenei for declaring victory in the war with Israel, describing the claim as “blatantly and foolishly false.”

Trump said that during the height of the conflict, he had specific knowledge of Khamenei’s location but stopped what he described as a major Israeli offensive aimed at Tehran.

“In fact, in the final act of the War, I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran. Tremendous damage would have ensued, and many Iranians would have been killed,” Trump said.
