Kampala, Uganda: Uganda Premier League giants SC Villa have appointed Serbian tactician Milincic Nemanja as their new head coach, just days after parting ways with Morley Byekwaso following an underwhelming season.
“SC Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Milincic Nemanja as Head Coach, effective immediately. We believe his experience and leadership will be vital to our journey ahead,” the club stated on Wednesday, June 19.
Nemanja becomes the fourth Serbian to take charge of the record Ugandan champions, joining the likes of Milutin “Micho” Sredojević, Simo Dubajic, and Nikola Kavazovic in a long-standing tradition of European technical leadership at Villa Park.
Born on February 19, 1989, Milincic Nemanja is a holder of the UEFA A coaching license. Despite his relatively young age, his decade-long coaching career spans a diverse mix of assistant coaching and match analysis roles across Europe and the Middle East.
His most recent role was as assistant coach at FK Nepradak Krusevac in Serbia between December 2024 and March 2025. Prior to that, he served for over a year as assistant coach of the Bulgarian National Team (July 2021–October 2023).
Nemanja has also worked as a match analyst for top-tier clubs and national teams including Red Star Belgrade, AEK Athens, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ettifaq, Al Ahli, and Serbia’s national team. He also featured as an assistant coach for Serbia’s U-19 side, FC Koper (Slovenia), and OFK Beograd—where his professional coaching career began in 2014.
This marks his first senior head coaching role outside Europe. At SC Villa, he is expected to lead the club’s return to domestic dominance and continental competitiveness as the Jogoos prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Club sources indicate that Nemanja’s immediate tasks will include squad evaluation, preseason preparations, and technical planning for both the Uganda Premier League and international fixtures.
His appointment underscores SC Villa’s strategic pivot towards a data-driven, analytical approach to modern football, leveraging Nemanja’s strong technical and scouting background.
