Deputy Mufti Urges Muslims to Uphold Obedience and Unity

His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafidh Muhammad Haruna Bukenya the 2nd Deputy Mufti, has called on Muslims to be obedient to both the government and the Muslim leadership.


Speaking on Friday Jan. 10th, 2025 during the launch of Namagumba Center Mosque in Namagumba, Mbale District, Sheikh Bukenya, who represented His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, emphasized that mosques should be centers of learning and unity.


He commended Yunus Yusuf, the Director of YY Coaches and Courier Services, for financing the construction of the mosque and praised the Muslims of Bugisu for their unity, describing them as a shining example for the entire country.
Sheikh Bukenya encouraged the Muslim community in Namagumba to utilize the mosque for its intended purpose, ensuring it serves their spiritual and social betterment.


Sheikh Imran Ssali, the Religious Affairs Secretary at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), who delivered the sermon of the day, elaborated on the significance of building mosques as emphasized in the Holy Qur’an and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He reminded the congregation that it is the responsibility of all Muslims to build and maintain mosques, noting that contributions can be financial or through active participation in their upkeep. He also urged them to make full use of the mosque by attending the five daily prayers.


Haji Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salaam Charity, commended Yunus Yusuf for his consistent support for Muslim projects. He shared his experience meeting Yunus during a fundraising drive for the Nakaloke Center Mosque, where Yusuf made a generous contribution. He encouraged other Muslims to follow this example by supporting community initiatives.


The event was graced by prominent figures, including the Eastern Regional Assistant to the Mufti, Sheikh Hamid Ahmad Wandega; the host Kadhi, Sheikh Issa Ahmad Masaba Pole; the Kadhis of Budaka, Pallisa, Bududa, and Sironko; Resident City Commissioners; Regional Police Commanders; NRM leaders; and local officials.
